The artist, Samuel William Fores (bap. 1761-1838) began as a print seller in 1783; following his death in 1838 the business continued as Messrs Fores in  41 Piccadilly, London under his sons, George Thomas Fores (1806–1858) and Arthur Blücher Fores (1814–1883); 1938 Fores & Co, then Fores Ltd, then Fores Gallery Ltd; still active until 2009.
